The project that won 1st place is an environmental preservation project through the utilization of renewable energy. The category won is Environmentally Friendly Behavior Innovation

“The school programs related to the environment that we are working on include bamboo pellets (fuel), micro hydro for duck egg hatching, biogas, and a stove. Then, we submitted those programs to the SEAMEO Japan ESD Award 2023. The stove and bamboo pellet program from AL-YA’LU Superior Elementary School won 1st Place internationally,” said Niki Permata Ilahi, one of the students, proudly.
The Coordinator of the Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, accompanied by the Education and Culture Attaché, Amzul Rifin, received the AL-YA’LU Elementary School delegation. Al Aula stated that the international achievement accomplished by the AL-YA’LU elementary students is also a duty and function of diplomats

“The brilliant achievement you all have attained has brought honor to Indonesia. Unknowingly, you have already carried out the function and duty of a diplomat, showing the world that Indonesian students possess high creativity and not only benefit the surrounding environment but also help create a clean Earth,” said Al Aula.
“Keep creating and achieve countless accomplishments in any field. We, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, are committed to fully supporting the concrete work of the nation’s children to emerge on the world stage, especially in Japan,” advised Al Aula.
The meeting was also attended by SEAMEO Programme Assistant Benchaporn Chunkan, and Miho Kawashima as a representative from MEXT. These two organizations have been collaborating with the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Bangkok since 2012 to organize this international competition.
In addition to visiting the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, the four students from AL-YA’LU Superior Elementary School in Malang City visited Shimofukuda Elementary School in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
